Commander Telephones

Commander Elite Telephone

Please Note: The model number of your Commander telephone can usually be found on a label stuck on the bottom of the phone.

Commander NT 40, 40C, 132 Keysystem (also known as Norstar)

Economy Telephone (Norstar M7100)

To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier or cord. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier.

Plantronics:
Any H or HW series headset and an M22 amplifier, Switch Setting 5, Transmit 2). An alternative is no amplifier, just a H series headset and A10-16 amplified cable.

Jabra:
Any headset and a GN 8000 amplifier or GN 8210 digital amplifier.

Sennheiser:
Any headset top and a CSTD01 cord.

ADD-COM:
Any headset and a Voyager amplifier.

Standard (Norstar M7208N - also known as Dolphin), Advantage (Norstar M7310) or Principle (Norstar M7324 or NT8B43) Telephone

These Commander phones have a dedicated headset port, found underneath the stand fitted to the bottom of your phone. You need to press the clip (found at the bottom front of the phone) to release it. They can be programmed to provide full hands free via a headset key.

Plantronics:
Any H or HW series headset and an M22 amplifier,(Switch Setting 5, Transmit 2) can be used. A headset with a direct connect (i.e Polaris) cord will not work - the transmission is too weak. Also, an A10-11, 12 or 16 cable amplifier will not work, they do not allow transmission - I think that they do not get enough voltage from these phones.

Jabra:
Any "direct connect" headset with a standard cord (part no: 8800-01-01).

Sennheiser:
Any corded headset and a CXHS 01 amplified cord (using a CSTD 01, the transmission is a little too weak).

ADD-COM:
Any headset and a BLUE cord.

T7100 - also known as Platinum Economy (or NT8B25), T7208 - also known as Platinum Standard Telephone (or NT8B26)

These Commander phones have a dedicated headset port, found underneath the stand fitted to the bottom of your phone. You need to press the clip (found at the bottom front of the phone) to release it. They can be programmed to provide full hands free via a headset key.

Plantronics:
Any Supra (H) or SupraPlus (HW) series headset and an A10-11 cable amplifier. Plantronics H or HW series headset with a direct connect (i.e Polaris) cord will not work - the transmission is too weak. Also, an Entera HW series with an A10-11, 12 or 16 cable amplifier will not work, they do not allow transmission - I think that they do not get enough voltage from these phones.

Jabra:
Any "direct connect" headset with a standard cord (part no: 8800-01-01).

Sennheiser:
Any corded headset and a CXHS 01 amplified cord (using a CSTD 01, the transmission may be a little too weak).

ADD-COM:
Any headset and a BLUE cord.

Commander Elite Keysystem

All Commander phones in this range have a dedicated headset port. These phones can be programmed for headset mode.

Plantronics:
Any H or HW series headset and an M22 amplifier, (Switch Setting 5, Transmit 2) can be used. An alternative is no amplifier, just a H or HW series headset and an A10-16 amplified cord.

Jabra:
Any "direct connect" headset with a standard cord (part no: 8800-01-01).

Sennheiser:
Any headset top and a CHS01 cable.

ADD-COM:
Any headset and a Voyager amplifier. Alternatively, any headset and a RED cord.

Commander Connect Keysystem

All these telephones have a dedicated headset socket.

When you plug the headset into the socket a prompt ‘Turn Headset On?' is presented on the display. Select ‘Turn Headset On?'. The phone is now programmed to operate with a headset. 'Turn Headset Off?' is now displayed - to allow you to revert to Keystation mode.

You can also manually program HEADSET MODE. To do this you turn Headset mode on and off via the PROGRAM Key.

From your Keystation, press the PROGRAM Key

  1. Press the Scroll Down Key until ‘Headset Mode’ is displayed
  2. Select ‘Headset mode’ by pressing the left button next to that message,
  3. Select the required option – ‘Turn Headset on ?’ or ‘Turn Headset off ?’.
  4. Once selected, the 'Display' will show ‘Turn Headset On ?’ or ‘Turn Headset Off ?’ and then revert to the Idle Menu.
  5. Press the Hands-free Key to finish programming or the programming will not be set.

    Note: The Handset does not operate in Headset Mode.

Plantronics:
Any H or HW series headset and a Polaris cable. You may need an A10-16 cable if the transmission is too soft.

Jabra:
Any "direct connect" headset with a standard cord (part no: 8800-01-01).

Sennheiser:
Any headset top and a CSTD01 cord. With the SH series you will propably need an amplified CHS01 cable as the transmission may be too soft.

ADD-COM:
Any headset top and a RED cord.

Commander AN 616 Keysystem

To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier.

Plantronics:
These phones require a special adaptor kit to be fitted. With this kit, any H series headset and an M22 amplifier (Switch Setting 5, Transmit 2) can be used. Ensure that the handset volume is low - use the M22 volume control (this is to prevent squealing).

Jabra:
Any headset and a GN 8000 amplifier or GN 8210 digital amplifier.

ADD-COM:
Any headset and a Voyager amplifier.

Commander BN 308, 512, 824, 1236, 2464 Keysystem

To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier.

Plantronics:
These phones require a special adaptor kit to be fitted. With this kit, any H series headset and an M22 amplifier (Switch Setting 5, Transmit 2) can be used. Ensure that the handset volume is low - use the M22 volume control (this is to prevent squealing). An alternative Plantronics headset is the S12 (Switch Setting 3, Transmit 2).

Jabra:
Any headset and a GN 8000 amplifier or GN 8210 digital amplifier.

ADD-COM:
Any headset and a Voyager amplifier.

Commander D 32, 72, 128 Keysystem

To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier. These phones can be programmed for headset mode - press SPKR button, enter 626, press SPKR button again.

Plantronics:
Any H series headset and an M12E amplifier (Switch Setting 3, Transmit 2) can be used. An alternative is any H series headset and a Vista cord.

Jabra:
Any "direct connect" headset and an A cord (part no: 8800-01-11).

ADD-COM:
Any headset and a Voyager amplifier. Alternatively, any headset and a RED cord.

Commander E 105, 105+, 208, 208+, 308, 616 Keysystem

To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier.

Plantronics:
Any H series headset and an M12E amplifier (Switch Setting 3, Transmit 2) can be used. An alternative is any H series headset and a Vista cord.

Jabra:
Any "direct connect" headset and an A cord (part no: 8800-01-11).

ADD-COM:
Any headset and a Voyager amplifier. Alternatively, any headset and a RED cord.

Commander Connect Telephone

Commander F 120 Keysystem

To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier. These phones can be programmed for headset mode.

Plantronics:
Any H series headset and an M22 amplifier can be used.

Jabra:
Any headset and a GN 8000 amplifier or GN 8210 digital amplifier.

ADD-COM:
Any headset and a Voyager amplifier.

Commander HX 308, 616, 1224 Keysystem

These systems were manufactured by Samsung but originally sold by Telstra. To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier. These phones can be programmed for headset mode - pick up handset, press # 1 5 1 #, replace handset. This disables Speakerphone mode. To switch back to handset mode (and thus enable Speakerphone mode) - pick up handset, press # 1 5 0 #, replace handset.

Any H series headset and an M22 amplifier (Switch Setting 5, Transmit 2) can be used. Ensure that the handset volume is low - use the M22 volume control (this is to prevent squealing).

Jabra:
Any headset and a GN 8000 amplifier or GN 8210 digital amplifier.

Commander I 408 & 408+ Keysystem

To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier. These phones can be programmed for headset mode.

Any H series headset and an M22 amplifier can be used. (Switch Setting 5, Transmit 2) can be used. Alternatively you can use any H series headset and a Polaris cable.

Commander N 308, 616, 1236, 2260 Keysystem

These Commander phones have a "fixed" handset cord. They cannot be fitted with a headset without major modification.

Commander S 206, 408, 824 Keysystem

To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier.

Plantronics:
Any H series headset and an M22 amplifier, (Switch Setting 5, Transmit 2) can be used. Ensure that the handset volume is low - use the M22 volume control (this is to prevent squealing).

These Commander phones have a "fixed" handset cord. They cannot be fitted with a headset.

Commander T 106 & 210 Keysystem

To fit a headset to these Commander phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier. These phones can be programmed for headset mode.

To fit a headset to these phones, unplug the handset and replace it with the appropriate amplifier. The handset cord then plugs into the amplifier.
