Netcom GN9120 Wireless Headset In Depth

The GN Netcom GN9120 wireless headset was the first really popular cordless telephone headset here in Australia. There were a few earlier wireless headsets (e.g. Plantronics' CA10 & CA40 and GN Netcom's GN9050 & Ellipse). However, they did not have the almost universal acceptance of today's headsets.
The GN9120 comes in 3 "flavours":
 | SoundTube has a standard microphone. This model is discreet and sleek. It is great for open office environments with minimal background noise.
| | Midi Boom has a noise filtering microphone. This is not as good at noise supression as a Flex Boom model but is better than a SoundTube. It is unobtrusive and compact. It is great for private or quiet office environments.
| | Flex Boom has a noise cancelling microphone. This model is flexible and personal. It is ideal for open, loud office environments.

Extending the Life of Your GN9120
Your GN9120 wireless headset is designed to provide years of reliable service. However, there are a few things that you can do to help make sure that it does:- Avoid allowing the battery to become completely discharged. Charge it whenever it is not in use. The battery cannot be overcharged, so it is ok to leave the headset in the base whenever you are not using it. If you notice a significant decrease in the maximum talk-time, the battery may be replaced with a GN approved battery. The battery is found in the earpiece.
- If the earcushion or earplate become damaged or dirty they may be replaced or cleaned. To clean, remove these items from your headset and wash with warm water or water and a small amount of liquid soap.
- If your headset becomes damaged, it can be replaced without also replacing the base. Simply purchase a new headset from your supplier. Please note that this new headset will need to be registered/paired with the base. This document describes this process.
The GN1000 Remote Handset Lifter
This optional add-on unit gives you complete freedom to roam your office. With the GN 1000 RHL, you can answer calls, and end them, from wherever your wireless headset takes you. You do not have to touch your telephone, simply press the multifunction button on your headset. It works with over 90% of all business telephones. Unless your phone has a truly unusual design, it will work with yours.
