The Crowd Can't Be Wrong
Australia's Best Headsets

Plantronics S12 Telephone System

Here I give you MY ranking on the best headsets in various headset categories or click for the results of the 2006 TelCall Headset Review.

This ranking is based on industry feedback and personal observations. These personal observations take into consideration sales volume, warranty returns and industry and user responses.

If you believe that these best headset rankings are NOT representative of the Australian market please contact me. All responses will be evaluated and, if I believe it necessary, I WILL change the rankings. Also, these rankings will change from time to time as market conditions vary and/or new products are introduced.

Wireless Headsets

  1. GN 9120 Midi Boom. This family of headsets has the best operating range of any available in Australia - up to 150 metres is not uncommon. Although the Midi Boom is not noise cancelling, the modern styling and unobtrusive boom makes it very popular. Very easy to register/pair with its' base.
  2. Plantronics CS60. The CS60 is let down by it's poor operating range - only about 50 metres. The very modern styling is highly popular. It is more complicated to register/pair with its' base than the GN.
  3. GN 9120 Flex Boom. As mentioned above, this family of headsets has the best operating range of any available in Australia. Being noise cancelling the Flex Boom is popular in noisy environments. Very easy to register/pair with its' base.

Bluetooth Headsets
  1. GN 6210. This headset gains its' best headset ranking due to both design and performance. My experience shows that the GN 6210 is virtually fault free. The earpiece design is very comfortable.
  2. Plantronics 510S Voyager This is a recent addition to the Australian market. It is very comfortable and looks smart. The reliability of this headset lets it down. Its' current performance is like the old GN 6110 - there are a lot of faulty headsets being returned for replacement.

Corded Monaural Headsets
  1. Plantronics H51 Supra. The H51 is the most popular general purpose headset in the world. It is an economical "work horse" that can take a lot of rough handling. Thus it is ideal for call centres.
  2. GN 2120NCD. This noise cancelling headset is GN Netcom's best selling model here in Australia. In a contact centre environment it provides clear transmission and reception as it effectively filters out background chatter.
  3. Claria CD. The Claria CD headset is a noise cancelling model preferred by a number of large call centres in Australia. It is economical and reasonably robust. Claria has been taken over by GN Netcom and I wonder how long it will survive.

Corded Binaural Headsets

  1. Plantronics H61N The H61N is the most popular "two-ear" general purpose headset in the world. It is an economical "work horse" that can take a lot of rough handling. Thus it is used in lots of call centres. Please be aware that the new SupraPlus H261N is rapidly overtaking this headset in popularity.
  2. Claria CB. The Claria CB headset is a noise cancelling "two-eared" model preferred by a number of large call centres in Australia. It is economical and reasonably robust. Like the Claria CD, I wonder how long the Claria CB will continue to exist?
